Pros

I’ve worked here for 2 years now, and I am continually impressed with the people that I work with and the passionate, unique, driven crew that is committed to growing the company into new and exciting directions. Overall, this company feels more like working for a big extended mixed-bag family of creatives and we are given the upmost autonomy to do our jobs in the best way we see fit while still balancing our home and family lives. Management is always accessible to us (CEO included) and from what I’ve seen, they will always work with people as much as they can to make sure everyone is on a project where they are happy and fulfilled. When I joined this company I was given a new role and told to shape it any way that I saw fit - talk about empowering. Any company that allows their people to fail and learn from their mistakes is a gem in my book. It’s disappointing to see the negative reviews below because they are not indicative of the experience of the majority of the staff at UM. This has genuinely been the best experience of my career thus far.

Cons

Communication can be a challenge at times when working remotely for a consulting company that already has so many moving parts, but I think that's the nature of any consulting company with a distributed culture.

Pros

Incredible culture, amazing talent, and inspiring work environment.

Cons

Not worth sharing now that they are closing. They did the best they could and I'm grateful for my time with the company.

Pros

I smiled when I saw that UM had almost all 5 star reviews on Glassdoor. Seems to good to be true doesn't it? Every company has it's flaws, but to be honest, I have yet to discover what those are here (they didn't pay me to say this, I swear). Someone below said that this company feels like "home", and I couldn't have said it better myself. I've worked for some top notch start up tech companies in Silicon Valley that were seemingly wonderful on the outside, but once in the door, the flaws and cracks in their culture became painfully apparent. Admittedly, it's difficult to keep a great culture as a company scales, but Universal Mind has somehow dialed it in effortlessly. Despite my hesitations to join a distributed culture (I've always worked onsite) I've come to discover that it's really the best culture I've ever been a part of. Whether it's the hilarious conversations on Slack, interesting google hangout meetings, company off-sites where everyone can come together and get to know each other, the flexible schedule, or just generally working with some of the smartest, most creative folks in the industry, I can say with absolute honesty that this company is by far my favorite place to work thus far in my career. This is a place where your ideas and opinions are heard, upper management instills trust and autonomy in their staff, and no one person is any better than anyone else, regardless of title or position. I hope the crew at UM likes me as much as I like them, because they're stuck with me for the foreseeable long term future.

Cons

I have nothing to add here.
