Pros
I'm a 20 something software developer contracting on behalf of UM. I gotta say, the UM bunch is one of the chillest yet hardest working groups I have ever been a part of. The typical UM'er is extremely intelligent, creative, edgy, and professional. I've seen UM contractors accomplish huge technological feats in very short amounts of time. I've kicked back and enjoyed myself while drinking beer that UM has paid for. Even though the UM community is spread out all over the country, we are all communicating on slack, sharing the awesome stuff we do. I think what makes UM especially great is that everyone I've talked to not only cares about software creation but holds it dear to their hearts. This attitude is what allows UM to continually push the boundaries of the software creation process. I truly believe that the passion within this company is what keeps UM on the bleeding edge of UX, CX, UI design, SAFe agile methodologies, devOps, and software development. I am a proud member of this community and I feel like a straight up bad a** even saying so. I'm being deliberately candid because I really want you to know how I feel.
Cons
This isn't necessarily specific to just UM but managing the different timezones between all the UM'ers around the country can get a bit wonky.
