Pros

The benefits and pay are comparable to industry standards but that’s about it.

Cons

-Absolutely ZERO standardized training. The leadership within systems and IT are severely unqualified for their positions and are simply in their roles due the tenure and nothing else. They expect you to adhere to “ad hoc” spur of the moment trainings but then provide no tools, or KBA’s for personal review. -No room for advancement within the company, unless you are part of the “mean girls” crew. The culture within mortgage is literally a popularity contest. It’s all about how long you’ve been there, and who you know. You will notice this at the first company gathering you attend. You will easily be able to see the “cool kids table”. This said table is full of all the tenure employees who do nothing but brag and boast about their mediocre performances, making a normal everyday work task sound as if they invented the wheel, when it’s literally just a job requirement. -ABHORRENT workplace favoritism. You will be working along side long time employees completing work at the same level as them, with the same level of accuracy, if not at a higher level, yet if a single mistake is made you will be the employee targeted for mistakes while your tenured co-workers will be completely looked over. -HR assistance. When trouble arises with your leadership team do not expect any help from the HR team, especially if your leader has been with the company longer than 5 years. Whatever the issue it will be your fault. Even if you bring verifiable proof that you are being targeted by your members of leadership. -Windows 95 level technology. The company requires that you be a member of the credit union in order to receive direct deposit. They will not direct deposit into any other institution. This wouldn’t be too bad except for the fact that they offer ZERO atm reimbursement, and they only have locations in texas. Their phone app also doesn’t allow for check scan deposits, zelle transfers or basically ANY OTHER BANKING OPTION needed for mobile use. On top of that, when you’re hired there is “fine print” that states that the credit union has the right to monitor how at what you spend your money on as an employee. -Endless meetings. You will have between 5 and 10 meetings scheduled per day EVERYDAY. So much so that you will have to block off time on your calendar to complete the work that you were hired to do. These meetings will consist of aforementioned discussions listed above. It will be leadership teams using meeting buzzwords to make it seem as though they have completed loads of work l, when in reality they’ve made a single phone call or email. -Help from Co-workers. You absolutely will not find this here. You will be directed to some random file in a folder that hasn’t been touched or edited in 2-5 years. This file will literally be just random notes that a former employee jotted down with zero structure or process. And that’s if you can even get your co-workers attention through email or teams. You will constantly see them (and leadership) “away” or “offline” for hours out of the day with no explanation as to where they were or what they were doing.

Pros

Good Leadership, Clear Company Vision, Common Goal within organization. Good incentive, Great Benefits. Well respected organization in the area. GREAT communication from CEO!

Cons

Some processes needed to be upgraded, or just focused on. Busy teller branches often carried the load, and were not compensated for that. You could transfer to a slow branch and get the same pay for less work.

Pros

Credit union movement is genuinely concerned with helping consumers; their heart is in the right place...however...

Cons

Senior management is clueless as to what motivates employees. It's a "let them eat cake" mentality. Completely inept "Chief" Marketing Officer has an extraordinarily large inferiority complex that masks itself as machismo; the Chief HR Officer is only interested in building her internal empire--no leadership skills whatsoever. Both have lost significant employees over the last year due to their lack of ability to lead. CEO is genuinely a nice person, but he refuses to listen to anyone--only his ideas are the good ones. They're WAY behind on product innovation and only really seem to be interested in naming stadiums and not making a difference in the communities they serve.
