Pros

The core people who are still there care about the organization and the membership. They are involved in the community if it makes financial sense for them. Might still be a decent PT college job due to banker's hours and holidays off.

Cons

The current leadership team is pure banking and make me glad I got out while I could. While they are involved in the community it's only as a marketing position if they can use it for profit. E.g., UFCU Disch-Falk field in East Austin? Sure! A UFCU branch in Westlake? Sure! A UFCU Branch (or even ATM) in East Austin where A LOT of their underserved customers (yes, customers, they're not treated like true members.) live? Not a chance. Let RBFCU (from San Antonio) open a branch. The NCUA let RBFCU open a branch in UFCU field of membership as even they indicated that UFCU was not serving them. Everything this place has become is simply an homage to the CEO's ego. If UFCU wants to be a bank, it should be taxed like one. Long story short, good people who care about membership and not just about their own personal achievement are either pushed out or have run away from this place.

Pros

Good Leadership, Clear Company Vision, Common Goal within organization. Good incentive, Great Benefits. Well respected organization in the area. GREAT communication from CEO!

Cons

Some processes needed to be upgraded, or just focused on. Busy teller branches often carried the load, and were not compensated for that. You could transfer to a slow branch and get the same pay for less work.

Pros

Credit union movement is genuinely concerned with helping consumers; their heart is in the right place...however...

Cons

Senior management is clueless as to what motivates employees. It's a "let them eat cake" mentality. Completely inept "Chief" Marketing Officer has an extraordinarily large inferiority complex that masks itself as machismo; the Chief HR Officer is only interested in building her internal empire--no leadership skills whatsoever. Both have lost significant employees over the last year due to their lack of ability to lead. CEO is genuinely a nice person, but he refuses to listen to anyone--only his ideas are the good ones. They're WAY behind on product innovation and only really seem to be interested in naming stadiums and not making a difference in the communities they serve.
