Pros

The University was incredibly flexible in my hours, since I had this job while going to school as a full-time student. I received incredible resume-building opportunities that gave me relevant experience necessary prior to graduating. I worked in a collaborative team environment where I had the freedom to be creative and contribute to a variety of projects. I LOVED working in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies at USU. Fantastic. If hadn't moved out of Utah after graduating, I would have definitely pursued a full-time job with USU. Go Aggies!

Cons

The only con is that I received minimum wage pay. But, many internships and ways to gain experience are in fact unpaid -- so I felt very blessed to have been able to get paid.

Pros

Academia is a more relaxed atmosphere than a for profit business. Most of the people I work with are very kind. And the summers are amazingly quiet.

Cons

The pay is very low. My position was just created and the base pay is $50k. However, the raises here only come if you leave your position and move to a different division within the university. It is commonly said that if you want a raise or a promotion you have to go somewhere else.
