Pros
Work life balance - You don’t often take work home with you. Most of the people here have families and it’s really amazing that they get to spend time with their families on weekends and aren’t consumed by work. Competitive pay - They pay top market value! It was pretty incredible, they gave me over my asking salary. Pet discount - About 70% discount on most services Amazing co workers - They are so easy to work with, incredibly smart and hard working. I truly enjoy all the people that I’ve worked with Medication insurance - health insurance could be better but medication is very cheap. I’ve never paid more than $14 for a prescription. Most times I pay $2! Amazing dental insurance - you can get Invisalign Amazing industry and product - I feel so proud to work here because I’m working on something that supports our veterinarians so they can help pets. Growth in company - I’ve heard a lot of stories of people that started out in the animal hospitals that move into the corporate office. I think it’s beautiful that they invest in people like that.
Cons
Difficult to make friends - there are a few buildings so you don’t have a lot of interaction. There are a few events but they’re not geared towards introducing and meeting people you don’t directly work with. It’s a shame because we do meet up every few months and it’d be a good opportunity to get to know people. Swag and discounts could be updated - They give away these little cups and towels but they’re uninspired. We end up just throwing them away. They should take a hint from the newer startups and have better giveaways. It’d be cool if we got tickets to cat cafes, or discounts for Casper dog beds, litter robots, and furbos. There’s so many new pet products out there and we just aren’t paying attention to them. Difficult to move upward - There are no annual reviews and managers don’t help with career plans. I spoke with a few other people that were new and we were all lost during our one year anniversary. Some people have had the same position for a decade! Expensive health insurance - I pay about $70/m for a high deductible health plan. Every year it is getting better but it’s pretty expensive for what you get. No gym stipend Dry Halloween party I know this is not a start up but they should stay updated with the times and be competitive. Seems like they need to start looking around and update their company spirit.
