Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback—and for your six years of dedication to Valor Healthcare. We’re proud to have colleagues like you who are committed to delivering high-quality care and supporting our mission every day. It’s wonderful to hear that the recognition programs, incentives, and celebrations across our organization have helped make Valor a positive place to work. Celebrating achievements—big and small—is an important part of how we show appreciation for the incredible work our colleagues do for the patients and communities we serve. We also appreciate your perspective regarding bonuses for licensed staff. When we are able to provide bonuses for our teams, we absolutely do so. We are grateful for the contributions of our licensed professionals, who play a vital role in the quality outcomes Valor is known for. As the organization continues to grow and succeed, we hope to create even more opportunities to recognize and reward the colleagues who make our mission possible. Thank you again for your commitment to Valor and for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

Great PTO Solid work-life balance

Cons

Culture has taken a hit in the past year or so. A variety of things impact that, but in general leadership tends to be pretty tone deaf to feedback. They have several channels to reach out to them, but if you do it generally is met with vague responses that don’t actually take responsibility or indicate any effort to will be made to improve. Also, they always make it a point to tell you that they don’t do cost-of-living increases, they do merit increases. But what this actually means is that your merit increases are tiny. I mean half of what a normal cost of living increase would be best case scenario. They talk a lot about how Valor is growing, but I have seen no indication that anyone other than the people at the very top are going to benefit from said growth. It’s disappointing because it used to feel like a very positive place and now it feels like everyone is working a dead end job. A lot of people care deeply about the mission (rightly so), but despite the fact that Valor is a for-profit company, they treat their employees as though it’s a nonprofit company and make excuses for never improving pay, benefits, or general work environment. If you’re looking for solid PTO and work life balance this can be a great place to land, as long as you’re not too worried about pay. Once you’re hired, it won’t be long before you are being paid below market.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We appreciate the honesty behind it. We’re glad to hear that PTO and work-life balance have remained positives in your experience. We feel passionately that our colleagues should enjoy true balance and we’re thrilled that that has aligned with your experience at Valor. At the same time, we recognize that those things alone do not make up for feeling undervalued, unheard, or concerned about compensation and long-term growth. Your comments around leadership communication, feedback fatigue, and concerns about compensation are not things we want colleagues to feel dismissed over. We understand why it can be discouraging when organizational growth does not feel like it is translating into meaningful improvements for the people doing the work every day. We also recognize the point you made about mission-driven work. Caring deeply about Veterans and believing in the mission should exist alongside a workplace where colleagues feel supported, respected, and able to grow professionally and financially. Feedback like this is important and is part of the broader conversations happening around colleague experience, communication, and retention. If you would be open to sharing additional feedback, ideas for improvement, or examples directly, we encourage you to reach out to HR at hr@valorhealthcare.com. We appreciate you sharing both the positives and the areas where you believe the organization needs to improve.
