Pros

Great work environment for young entry level individuals. Will gain the knowledge needed to grow in finance and have unlimited opportunities for upward mobility within the company.

Cons

Once you make it through the first year you’re good. The first year will be all inbound phone calls from Vanguard clients such as basic account issues like username password resets to more investment related actions like placing trades. You essentially will be a glorified call center agent. However, after the first year you are able to post out to new jobs which are much more specialized. Biggest complaint I hear is the pay is lower than most other similar roles in the industry.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
