Pros
The 401k contributions, partnership (was great but is still good), charity initiatives like All Cans on Deck, etc., Most of the people
Cons
Vanguard has gone WAY downhill in the last 8-10 years. Management is ineffective and unqualified. There used to be no politics and people were judged fairly but that has done a complete 180 and now politics take precedent over actually working. Within the last 2-3 years we have started to outsource and get rid of talented developers to replace them with contractors in India through a partnership with TCS. A lot of higher ranked developers and tech leads are fleeing the company leaving the less talented to drive the company and it shows. Projects are routinely mismanaged and yet the offending manager is rewarded with bonus or promotion opportunities. If you are a woman or a minority you will be fast-tracked for advancement no matter your level of professionalism, integrity, or aptitude due to social justice BS. monetary compensation is severely lacking compared to other companies. IT professionals are packed in like cattle in the new "office of the future" layout which is an 'open office' plan that has people going from spacious cubes to basically a segmented table with NO privacy. There used to be a lot of training opportunities but in the last 5 years those have dried up. Upper management are inept and clueless. It is so sad to see what was once a great company fall so far so fast.
