Pros
You can work from home whenever you like, provided you let your manager know. They are embracing newer technologies, like Salesforce and jboss Fuse. The department is filled with hardworking, intelligent people. Very friendly and supportive atmosphere. Management changes made several months ago have definitely been for the better. Managers now take the time to share more information with their teams and take the time to listen to you and help you out. (I could not say the same about previous management.) The use of Agile to manage projects has been more positive than not. The company has been doing a lot of events to boost morale. Its pretty much a 9-5 job unless you commit to more than what you can accomplish in the time frame you say you can deliver.
Cons
The hardware IT folks are being asked to use is very out-of-date. A Win7 machine running a 32 bit OS with 2 GIG of RAM may have been top-of-the-line five years ago, but is mostly antiquated today. Hopefully this will be addressed soon. The health benefits changes made last year have made that benefit significantly more expensive than before. And the loss of unlimited sick time was a tough benefit to lose.
