Pros
The people, mostly. Comprehensive healthcare plans and benefits.
Cons
Where to start. LEADERSHIP/CXO TEAM Total lack of leadership from the top down. Revolving door of execs who are not qualified to lead, which directly translates to high employee turnover, slipping market share and failed products. They're obsessed with competitors instead of leading their own strategy. Paul Galant was brought in as CEO in 2013 to take Verifone to the next level, and failed, mostly. Sure did enjoy that golden parachute, though. Essentially this lead to the company being acquired and previous CXO team laughed all the way to the bank. Bye Felicia! RECENT ACQUISITION = CULTURE OF FEAR Company was acquired in 2017 which brought massive layoffs, office closings around the world and a dead end internal culture of fear. No one has your back!! Product org is a total mess and again, no leadership, roadmap or direction. Very smart people who are dedicated to what they do, but no vision and sporadically going after various channels, markets and services hoping something sticks. The App Marketplace is a joke. Lots of 'lifers' who have been at the company for 20+ years who have never worked anywhere else and have no vision. MARKETING Marketing is another joke. No budget and every penny is scrutinized. CXO team is clueless about marketing and the entire dept gets no respect or seat at the decision making table. No one cares about - or understands - marketing in the org and people who are still there are totally miserable. Last round of layoffs a couple months ago fired people in groups, it was demoralizing and indicative of the toxic culture. Forced internal comms/propaganda trying to make employees 'happy' but it's been a giant fail and very contrived. Also, it's impossible to market products that don't even work. TOOLS, BUDGET, SYSTEMS No budget = minimal tools to do your work. IT consists of one or two people on-site who basically don't know what they're doing and don't have the bandwidth to support a couple hundred people on a daily basis. It's like the Office Space printer scene every single day. Also, THE VIDEO MEETINGS are comical and NEVER function regularly. Ridiculous and embarrassing when meeting with external clients. OVERALL Verifone is the Blockbuster of fintech...served a purpose for many years, but now they're a dying brand with a product that is becoming more and more obsolete. Fintech is a great industry to get into, but Verifone is not the place to do it. I'd be amazed if they're still around in 2 years.
