Pros
Can be fun and interesting if you were being assigned for certain interesting project. Working in R&D, you get to learn how a payment terminal is designed and developed, and the secret art of security protection. Flexible working hours when you do not need to rush to finish project. Basic Insurance and medical benefits coverage over spouse and kids.
Cons
Poor HR management. No cohesion in the Company. No annual dinner/retreat. HR only looks for you for your medicate certificate when you failed to submit it for medical leave. Low increments. No bonus (only 1mth Annual Wage Supplement). High turnover. Short project timeline causing time pressure and stressful working culture. Marketing people thought they really know the market requirements, which they always fail to convince Design team as they change their mind every alternate day. Engineers always get pressurized to make changes to fulfill what the upper management want in limited time frame as they always think every minor change is so easy to be done and can be done like flicking fingers. Working overtime is unavoidable. Be prepared to work from 8am to 2am next day or even come back to work during holiday, weekend, or middle of the night just for the sake of finish the project within the expected schedule. Double standard within the same organisation. Travel in low cost airline for some staff while others enjoy taking normal airline. For the sake of saving costs for Company, you need to spend your time to search for the low cost air-ticket for your business trip. They think we like to travel so much which sometimes we may even need to sacrifice our weekend without any compensation at all.
