Pros

Very fair with compensation. If you're working in the right area, it can be rewarding and you'll get a lot of resourced thrown your way. If you're good at managing up (even at the expense of external/customer focus) you can do well here. Stock program is very strong and creates a compelling reason to work there and to stay (which also has a downside). The company as a strong brand and reputation within the technology sector and is a great place to work if you're looking to move into a smaller company later as the brand carries weight. That is likely to change over the next few years.

Cons

For a long time, the company has lacked discipine and focus. For a while, this created career opportunities as new areas of business were created and companies were acquired. But the benefits of this trend have a limited lifespan and eventually it caught up with the company. At this point, there appear to be few long-term growth opportunities within the company. Indeed, the sustainability of the company as a single entity built around the two core businesses is even in question. I am personally skeptical of leadership's commitment to investing in growing these business (outside of technology investment). I believe VeriSign will start to become a bad name to have on your resume in much the way AOL has become.
