Pros

Great benefits, competitive pay, engaging and satisfying if you push yourself to perform well, recognition to increase employee moral. Verizon is everywhere in the US so relocating can be easy if you want to get closer to family.

Cons

Verizon recently went through huge change with staffing and vision on profits. Verizon is looking for other source of revenue through (cloud, telematics, connected devices) which can be overwhelming to the customer. Another way to increase net profit is to lower cost. That’s exactly what Verizon did when thousands of employees were layoff in California. Reps who has been with Verizon 10 plus years losing their jobs with a month notice. I personally know people who are losing their homes because of this move by verizon. Competitive at all level and against different department. Example reps stealing sales in same stores. Direct vs indirect stores causing bad experience for the customer. When in store reps call tech for help it usually 50-50 good/bad experience with tech refusing to help in store reps. Even if it’s different department verizon reps/tech should work together for better experience.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
