Pros

Pay & Benefits. Tuition assistance. Lots of vacation time. The holiday blackout period isn’t that big. Recognizing You Awards. Your coworkers can become life long friends. If you’re a white male, you will do very well in Verizon.

Cons

Stressful at times. A lot of the time, actually. The Verizon HUM. Customers are needy. If their apps need updating, they come to the Verizon store so an employee can do it. There are Reps that cherry pick so they get the customers that are adding new lines. Management won’t do anything about it. The shadiest reps get all the accolades. They get to take pictures with regional leadership. They get shouted out on group calls. All the while, that rep’s customers are paying for things every month that they were told was free. Verizon Wireless promotes based off of how good your numbers are as a rep. So you could be a terrible human being and be handed the General Manager position. White males do very well in Verizon. I had several managers that were dumb as a box of rocks. We all wondered how and why they became leadership. Its simple really. Its actually an epidemic. White males run the entire company.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
