Pros

Great pay, great employees, if you hire the right people.

Cons

Being salaried as a store manager, I made anywhere between 70k and 95k. Keep in mind, you're taxed differently when paid commissions, 35% goes to fed and the rest is deducted after that.. A $5,000 commission check will only end up giving you $2,500 in your pocket. Verizon needs to give their employees separate commission checks that don't include their hourly or salary check, this would have given and additional $7,500 last year. The amount of pressure and micromanaging is absolutely incredible! If you need extra staff, you can't ask your reps to stay later without being written up or threatened. It all comes down to the store manager working more and making up for the lack of help from slow stores or additional headcount. This company nearly ruined my marriage because of the amount of hours I put in. I took a week of vacation and worked 25 hours in the store plus all the phone calls, all the text messages, and conference calls I needed to be on. Verizon has a work-life balance goal for their employees, but it's simply that, an idea. It looks great and they really sell it, but when the time comes to needing work-life balance, good luck, it won't happen especially if you're a manager. Moving up I the company wil happen, of you start as a rep. I was a leading manager for years, headed special projects, and never moved up.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
