Pros

Verizon is extremely focused on their customers, technology, and innovation while taking excellent care of its employees. They provide opportunities for employees to share and present ideas while encouraging them to grow personally and advance professionally. They offer up to $8,000 in reimbursements for educational/training costs. The benefits and salary are extremely competitive. Co-workers are smart and want to share new ideas and work information with you. You also have access to an on-site wellness center with free chair massages, gym, 24 HR ATM, bank, Starbucks, live music during lunch, large café, concierge, free shuttle service to and from metro stations, and more. It is not very hard to see why most people who work here tend to stay a very long time.

Cons

Sure it’s a large company and there will be shifts in leadership, but it’s rare and won’t have much effect on your daily job functions. Some employees can talk negative or whine about their job or the company, but that’s almost everywhere, and you learn very quickly to tune out those toxic employees.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
