Thank you for your review and the feedback as well as for working at Vermillion as the former HR Generalist for more than 5 years. Though your review was less-than-satisfactory, we want to make sure that you know we appreciate the feedback. In response to your comment “Very low wages for entry level to office staff but average for management. Bonuses for upper management are amazing” - Vermillion strives to provide all employees with appropriate salaries and competitive benefits. During your tenure with Vermillion, you supported the HR Department during the compensation analysis for all hourly and salary positions within the organization. Every other year we have conscientiously gathered market data through a third party on compensation in effort to insure we are paying wages that are in line with other local business of our size in our industry. Annually, we thoroughly collect and analyze information regarding cost-of-living and have diligently evaluated each position to make the necessary changes to keep us competitive within our market. In addition to wage analysis, we provide performance-based incentives that give all of our employees a chance to receive monetary and non-monetary rewards and bonuses throughout the year. Our leadership structure is such that the expectations of all management staff are transparent as well as the expectations all other staff. Our Board of Directors are continually updated on operational performance and business matters. While we can’t change how you perceived your tenure at Vermillion, we’ve always operated according to our core values and with a mission to provide a safe, competitive, and quality environment for all employees.

Pros

Small family Environment, wellness program. Most of the people that work at Vermillion are wonderful to work with.

Cons

Work-life balance remains a significant challenge. Production employees are frequently expected to work substantial overtime, often up to 15 additional hours per week, including partial shifts on Saturday mornings. The work environment is highly reactive, with many priorities treated as urgent and requiring immediate attention, creating a constant sense of pressure. There also a noticeable divide between production personnel and office support staff brought on by the Director of Operations where she intentionally fosters an "us versus them" mentality that hinders collaboration and overall morale. The workload placed on the engineering department is particularly demanding. Team members are consistently stretched thin working many hours of overtime, often operating at or beyond reasonable capacity, which increases stress levels and raises concerns about long-term sustainability and employee retention. Additionally, the company's PTO policy is frustrating for employees. PTO accrual stops once an employee reaches 200 hours, effectively requiring employees to take time off in order to continue earning additional PTO. While intended to encourage time away from work, in practice it can create challenges, as taking time dramatically increases the workload burden on already overextended team members and their colleagues.
