Pros

(VCGT specific) product pipeline has great potential interesting cell & gene therapy applications

Cons

(VCGT specific) toxic culture of senior leadership setting unrealistic expectations/timelines and middle management working their teams into the ground to try to reach those goals employees regularly expected to do the work of at least 3 people senior leadership micromanaging lab operations very low morale -- no sense of ownership over projects and no level-appropriate autonomy if below the director level, yet thrown under the bus when things go wrong. On multiple occasions, junior team members would leave rooms in tears because of the unprofessional way they had been treated by managers. Uneven standards in promotions. Tactless messaging to the company from executive-level individuals regarding how many hours we were being expected to work to meet unrealistic timelines

Pros

-Compensation -Benefits -Smart and capable co-workers make the day to day easier to navigate

Cons

-Poor leadership (specifically in the Quality organization). - Leadership does not lead by example - It's not unusual to observe a Quality VP or Sr.director taking screenshots of Teams chats (for CYA?). I question the level of trust (in both directions). This behavior creates a toxic environment. - Quality role scope creep- leadership tries to "own" and/or oversee the activities of other departments outside the scope of their QA responsibility which makes execution of processes cumbersome and, in many cases, non-value added and confusion over responsibility ownership.
