Pros

They have great insurance and benefits.

Cons

The company has middle and upper management that has no idea how to people manage. Instead of trying to support their employees and help them improve at their work - people are given a swift push out the door. There is no option for honest conversations with management or direct supervisors for fear they will use these conversations against you. The stress and anxiety suffered every day, not knowing if you will be the next empty desk in the cubical farm, is killing people. VU claims to be here for the Veterans they serve when in reality, they are here to push loans through at the end of the day, that NEVER should be approved just to meet their numbers. Meanwhile, if you are heard expressing frustrations or conflict, you are fired for "negative attitude" and not "upholding the values of VU" values which do NOT exist and have not existed for about 5 years. Additionally -- this is NOT a diverse or inclusive company. They align themselves with a Church in town that has outwardly spoken against the LGBTQ+ community. There is a whole "Faith" team that is Christian based. There is a lack of celebration company wide of "others" in our community.

We take every review seriously and are disheartened by your words and experience. We’re sorry you didn’t feel supported by your leader as we strive to provide an environment where leaders can give and receive feedback openly. As you mentioned, we have a strict set of values on which we base our mission to enhance lives. We will continue to ensure our values are taken seriously at all levels, which includes a high regard for integrity and doing the right thing for our Veterans. We feel there is a disconnect between your experience and the efforts we have in place to work toward inclusion. Our Inclusion & Social Impact team is passionate about connecting employees on topics of diversity through small groups, employee resource groups, community efforts, educational programs, events, and discussion groups. Employees have many opportunities to share and learn from those around them if they choose to engage. We sincerely wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

Paid time off is given on day one and goes up again at 1 and 5 years. Lots of personal growth opportunities and events for the whole family. Flexible schedule in some departments. Free coffee, tea, drinks, and snacks. Caring environment, where everyone is treated fairly. Very loose dress code, no need to dress up every day!

Cons

Some non production positions should be paid more. Health benefits are ok but I've had better at other companies. Some positions can be very stressful.
