Pros

The major pro that everyone will bring up is that you can bring your dog to work. But not that many people bring their dogs because it's a lot to ask of a pet to be in a work environment all day under a desk with random dogs walking by. The people are a plus. Most people here are genuinely good people and fun to be around. You will make friends across departments even if you don't try.

Cons

Attendance is horrendous. And they do not want to fire anyone over it because I am pretty sure they are afraid of being sued. There are people who will call out 2-3 days a week within 30 days of hire and nothing is done. Others have been consistently calling out 4-5 days a month and get away with it. HR is complacent and has allowed a transphobic rant to go unpunished because it was not directed at a particular person, and so was not technically harassment. Ironic as a core value of the company (which they will shove down your throat) is don't be a jerk. Overall, the company is growing fast but unless you're involved in sales, but not up just out. You will find it very hard to move up as they dangle promotions like carrots on sticks and don't follow through.

Pros

Vetsource has been around for ~20 years and has a proven record of steady growth. Leadership is thoughtful and intentional about the business directives to ensure that business projections and resourcing are realistic. After working in startup environments for many years, I've come to really appreciate this type of stable environment. Our C-suite are all extremely approachable and down-to-earth. I feel they really try to cultivate an environment where amiable and collaborative personalities can shine. Teams definitely don't feel lean, but the company also does not extraneously overstaff, so you will inherently have busier peak periods of work which are manageable. Lot's of employees here who have been around for 5/10/15+ years, shows me it's a good place to stay in my career. Fully remote environment while still emphasizing collaboration. Business is positioned to do well with lot's of strategic initiatives in play. Although we may not be as large as other competitors, our smaller company size and culture give us an advantage when it comes to connecting within the market.

Cons

Company recently became majority-owned by Mars in the recent years which has come with painpoints. I believe these are all surmountable and will diminish with time, but they can place strain on processes and add to workloads. Company hasn't adjusted well from being Portland, OR based to remote based in the sense that there is no standard working time in the org. Can put a strain on connecting with different teams and expectations across different teams on working hours.
