Pros

Really cool co-workers. Management is pretty easy to get a hold of. Remote work in some departments.

Cons

Work/life balance doesnt exist. Literally have to say “brb br” in a group slack. Amount of work is crazy considering the pay. I wish I knew this before going into it. Was looking for a remote position for a reason but honestly just bc its remote doesn’t make this job anymore freeing that a company thats hybrid or in person. Can’t bring your laptop really anywhere that there’s any noise. On the phone 24/7 & they micromanage your metrics. Strict KPIS & a minuscule 6 hours of PTO per paycheck. Get yelled at by clients all day for shortfalls of the company & get paid extremely little. DEI is pushed but not embodied.. still worked a full shift juneteenth & had a “couple minute” party for it.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We strive to live by our core values, it does not sound like you feel this was your experience and we are disappointed to hear that. While we are working diligently to improve the current processes and continue our mission, it’s critical that we consider our current employee feedback in our decisions moving forward. We also encourage you to speak with your manager if you feel you do not have a work/life balance is not. While Juneteenth is not currently one of our holidays, on June 1st, we implemented a Floating Holiday policy in recognition that many people’s cultural holidays are not part of the company-wide holiday plan. This allows all employees to select the additional day they would like to celebrate each year. We appreciate your transparency.

Pros

Vetsource has been around for ~20 years and has a proven record of steady growth. Leadership is thoughtful and intentional about the business directives to ensure that business projections and resourcing are realistic. After working in startup environments for many years, I've come to really appreciate this type of stable environment. Our C-suite are all extremely approachable and down-to-earth. I feel they really try to cultivate an environment where amiable and collaborative personalities can shine. Teams definitely don't feel lean, but the company also does not extraneously overstaff, so you will inherently have busier peak periods of work which are manageable. Lot's of employees here who have been around for 5/10/15+ years, shows me it's a good place to stay in my career. Fully remote environment while still emphasizing collaboration. Business is positioned to do well with lot's of strategic initiatives in play. Although we may not be as large as other competitors, our smaller company size and culture give us an advantage when it comes to connecting within the market.

Cons

Company recently became majority-owned by Mars in the recent years which has come with painpoints. I believe these are all surmountable and will diminish with time, but they can place strain on processes and add to workloads. Company hasn't adjusted well from being Portland, OR based to remote based in the sense that there is no standard working time in the org. Can put a strain on connecting with different teams and expectations across different teams on working hours.
