Pros
I can't name one "pro" right now. This was a great company to be at as recently as a couple of years ago. Innovative, exciting work, with people that actually cared about the success of the company. Company tried to maintain that family style culture. People were not just your colleagues, but they were your friends, too. Over time that culture did get some cracks in it, but in general that was the way it was. Now, with the satellite failures, a bad acquisition, and wall street knocking at the door the company is scrambling. Not the same place as when i started 19 years ago.
Cons
Company is very much in decline. Not a financially healthy company. Because of strategy failures, and then real product failures the company is under a lot of pressure to get its finances in order. Viasat 3 failed, and was supposed to be the cash cow of the future. An Immersat satellite failed, and the Immersat network was hacked, and brought to its knees all under the Viasat brand. Three strikes your out. Selling off profitable Gov businesses to finance the failing satellite side. Not a lot is going right. The core competency of the company is supposed to be satellites, and they aren't that good at it. Viasat 2 had issues so it is not at full capacity. Viasat 3 is space junk. Near future will be some tough sledding that they probably don't recover from. They banked on GEO satellites. Some industry pushback is for LEOs. Less costly, and all your eggs aren't in one basket. They have a lot of problems internally right now. And they hired Guru the clown to try to sort all this out. I hope they recover somewhat, but I would take the under on that. Don't let them fool you they are going the wrong way.
