Pros

-Culture: Viasat encourages innovation and creativity. People are generally positive, collaborative, very smart/high caliber/competent which creates an enjoyable work environment. Turnover is low- people love working here. -Global teaming: I work with team members from around the world on a daily basis and am constantly learning, challenged, and building a network -Benefits/Flexibility: There is no specific RTO policy and most people are hybrid or remote. Great benefits especially the flexible time off (aka unlimited PTO which is respected and people truly do take time off) -Internal mobility: I have worked at several large organizations and Viasat promotes/encourages internal mobility more than any other organization I have worked for. Managers are not fighting to keep people but rather encouraging them to pursue internal opportunities if it is the right next step for them -Great leaders: In my time here I have found many leaders who have become champions for me and my career, advocating for me and providing opportunities that align with my future goals -There is a lot of work being done internally all centered around employee experience, ensuring compensation and benefits are competitive in the market, transparency from the top, etc- they truly listen to employee feedback

Cons

Viasat has been in a period of change as a result of new leadership, an acquisition, and an internal re-org. The change is much needed to grow and achieve a longer term strategy however it has resulted in a lot of internal chaos, layoffs, and uncertainty about the future (especially with such a low stock price/investor confidence). The change has also delayed key initiatives and it can feel like teams operate in silos (i.e. the DEI team seems to operate in a silo which is unfortunate) but I am encouraged by the work going on to make positive changes.

Pros

Good work-life balance with flexible scheduling

Cons

Over the past several years, the company has lacked a clear long-term strategy, resulting in frequent reorganizations, shifting priorities, and multiple rounds of layoffs. Decision-making often feels reactive rather than strategic, creating uncertainty and making it difficult to execute long-term plans. Internal processes can also be overly complex, slowing down work and reducing efficiency.
