Pros
-some of our “regulars” made it fun to connect with customers -40% discount and a ton of nearly-free merch -fashion forward and a pioneer in the industry (back in the day)
Cons
-absolutely zero work life balance, regardless of your DM. Don’t EVER complain about being tired or overworked or needing a day off after a 20-hour inventory or 3-day floorset…it will be shrugged off as “just the expectation.” -we were held accountable for shrink/shoplifting results but couldn’t stop anyone from shoplifting. If we’d ask for additional resources (because my yearly review depended on it!!), we were just told “that’s just the way it is” and to look for internal shrink instead…when I saw 50 gallon TRASH BAGS being filled by the same shoplifting ring MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK and was told not to focus my energy on that. -you will be promised growth and development and given more responsibility for years and relocate to “further your career,” all the while, never truly be given that promotion. -they talk a big game in how important growth and development is but don’t actually walk it. Store manager training is not a thing. “VSU” videos come out every other day and DM’s are nagging you to have your teams complete their videos…there HAS to be a better way to complete this…or maybe if we actually got payroll, we’d be more open to all this added worklo-er, I mean “development.” -you will be put on blast if not EVERY SINGLE METRIC is outpacing the district/region/company. Even if you thought you had a great week, you’re probably wrong - but don’t worry, you will be called out for it week-after-week in front of your peers…and then they will all give their two cents about how you should’ve done better - even if their results were worse than yours?? Make it make sense.
