I work in the Technology side of this company. I can't speak for any of the clinical environments.
It is challenging to work at VillageMD because the growth is being handled by a bunch of inexperienced, short-sighted directors, VPs, and even the CTO. I cannot stress how incredibly difficult the growth is from an IT perspective because with the way our management likes to get their little fingers into everything we do, it feels like we have more managers, directors, and VPs than the people that actually do the work. Sure we got $1bn in funding from Walgreens, sure as a company we have more than doubled in the last year, but most, if not all, of the Technology teams have shrunk (let that sink in). Not only are people quitting, but for some reason folks have even been fired / laid off. None of us know what the heck is going on because there is little transparency, if any.
The stress literally makes me physically ill at times. I have never in all my career ever been so stressed out to the point of seeking medical help until working at VillageMD. Ironically this first experience is while working for a medical health care provider. Conspiracy? Probably not, but the health insurance benefits are only notably better than my previous employment benefits if I choose to go to a Village Medical clinic.
Pay and benefits are nothing special. Everyone I've talked to that leaves has offers so good that their managers don't even bother trying to counter.
If things don't change soon, I'll probably find myself one of those offers, use up my PTO, and split.
I'm taking the time to post this review not because I dislike VillageMD, but because I have slowly escalated my complaints all the way up to the CTO while hearing the same complaints echoed by many others. Nothing has changed. All we hear back is private acknowledgement when what we need is action.
