Pros

Generally most teams are collaborative, friendly and smart.

Cons

Recently made 8% of the workforce redundant in 2024 after receiving £400m+ from the sale of Virgin Money. Irresponsible with cashflow management - claim to have lost loads of money due to Virgin companis but bad decisions have been made at the top (poor investment decisions and overhiring in 2023 after knowing that large Virgin group companies were troubled), yet mid-level managers suffered by losing their jobs within a year. General tendency to overspend without proper diligence, resulting in bad financial outcomes. Favourtism and bureaucracy in certain teams. Certain senior MDs refuse to engage with people in other teams. Slow to no progression as the company is top heavy.

Thanks for taking the time to share this. We’re really glad to hear your experience of our teams has been largely positive – we’re proud of the collaboration and kindness that show up across the business every day. We also understand that decisions around redundancy are incredibly difficult – and we know the impact they have on our people goes well beyond the numbers. While we won’t go into the detail of specific business decisions here, we want to be clear: these are never made lightly. We care deeply about building a fair, inclusive and transparent place to work – one where our people feel heard, supported, and able to grow. If you’d be open to sharing more, we’d really value the chance to hear it. You can always reach us in confidence at people.team@virgin.com. – The Virgin People Team

We love a bit of feedback – but this one doesn’t quite look like it’s for us. If you meant to review another Virgin company (or a totally different one!), no worries – easy mistake to make. We’ll leave this here just in case!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback. We’re really sorry to hear you left feeling overworked and frustrated with leadership. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have, and your feedback really matters. We pride ourselves on creating a genuine sense of belonging — where everyone feels their time and energy are valued, and where they can make a real impact, not just clock long hours. We're investing in some brilliant, purpose-led leadership programmes to help our leaders lead with clarity, confidence and care. And it’s great to hear you enjoyed our perks — we’re proud of what comes with being part of the Virgin family. We especially love welcoming our New York colleagues to the UK and seeing that global connection come to life. If there’s more you’d like to share, we’d love to hear it – feel free to get in touch at people.team@virgin.com. – The Virgin People Team
