Pros
Great work environment, relaxed atmosphere (most of the time) Decent pay Possible to maintain a good work-life balance
Cons
Downward communication is very lacking, while excessive/redundant upward communication is expected. Underperformers are not trained, motivated, or fired by leadership in a timely manner. They are retained and continue to hinder progress, disrupt workflows, and disregard/refuse to complete responsibilities. This results in significant frustration for people who consistently deliver results and top performers, resulting in them seeking employment elsewhere. Top performers are not incentivized, encouraged, or supported. In fact, in some cases, they have been discouraged from performing at that high level, despite their accomplishments. Talent and ability are often not recognized when it arises, instead, unproven tenured employees are promoted to leadership positions over people who HAVE proven themselves capable by assuming the duties without the title and performing well. Departments are siloed, some more so than others.
