      Pros

      - Vibrant college atmosphere - Great holiday benefits and time off - Access to the gym and library facilities as well as being able to take classes - Lot of freedom to do work without being micromanaged

      Cons

      - Little available growth in advancement - Stagnant salaries - Very political, big divide between upper management and other staff as well as staff and needs of students - Lackluster attitude about position so always feeling the need to prove oneself - Never got the sense that my manager understood what I actually did so praise felt shallow

      Pros

      They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

      Cons

      VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
