      Pros

      Great minds, wonderful events, collaboration between departments

      Cons

      Budget decreases, lack of raises, and underpaid adjuncts lead to low morale. The university does a poor job with talent management. Career growth isn't fostered--leadership wants to hang on to the people they have and keep them in the same spot. And for all their talk of diversity, it's lip service.

      Pros

      They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

      Cons

      VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
