      state retirement, sick days automatically granted, family and personal days automatically granted, excellent benefits, flexible working schedule available if needed, pays for 2 classes per semester, winter vacation at Christmas

      Cons

      salary low, raises are dependent on general assembly decisions, must pay for our parking, not mush room for advancement in my department

      Pros

      They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

      Cons

      VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
