Pros

Campus is growing and buildings are being renovated. Everyone in my department was very nice, and was obviously sorry they couldn't pay more or offer more job security.

Cons

Typical exploitation of adjunct lecturers, making $2500 per class, while the basketball coach rakes in millions a year.

Pros

They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

Cons

VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
