      Generous leave amounts and flexible work arrangments

      Pay is not competitive and bonuses which are relative to getting an cost of living increase are not guaranteed. Retirement options with the state are not what they use to be so not much of a benefit other than generous PTO.

      Pros

      They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

      Cons

      VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
