Pros

I love working here because it makes me feel like a important part of my school. I can stay involved and bring satisfaction to others in the VCU community.

Cons

The gym is relatively new and still has a lot of miscommunication. Because I only come in to "work" and hour at a time I'm not as involved. But it is chaotic and they waste a lot of money on employee meetings where they really don't cover the information that is necessary for employees to know and understand there duties. There is no productive orientation that informs the employees, regardless of position, exactly how procedures and policies should be carried out (or maybe there just isn't an orientation for group ex instructors). It feels poorly run, but I would still say it is a fun place to work, if you can get past chaos.

Pros

They care about the employees. There are multiple efforts to support everyone, it is a welcoming environment, HR is very supportive.

Cons

VCU is incredibly bureaucratic and poorly ran. Things move slow, very slow. More slow than normal universities should. It isn't just "oh this is academia, things move slow." It's legitimate poor management across multiple levels of leadership.
