Pros

Excellent laboratory facilities. Potential to work and learn with great people on exciting projects. Plenty of fun and flexibility.

Cons

Lost opportunities in the work force. Salary and benefits (tuition, travel, etc.) dependent on funding/who you are working with. Like everything else in grad school, the quality of experience is up to you.

Pros

Cons

Pros

The experience was great. The PI was amazing and kind and I learned a lot, definitely would do it again. It yielded great results for me such as publication. I recommend for medical school or graduate school.

Cons

Difficult to justify if you don’t plan to have a research career, graduate or professional school because the pay is lower than other positions available in Blacksburg.
