      Pros

      Working for a university is a great experience as a whole, lots of cooperation and plenty of opportunities both academic and industrial. However, I cannot stress enough that your experience may differ depending on your department and who you work with.

      Cons

      The politics within the academic environment can be difficult to work with at times. Expectations may differ between management and supervisors which can make some experiences stressful at times.

      Pros

      The experience was great. The PI was amazing and kind and I learned a lot, definitely would do it again. It yielded great results for me such as publication. I recommend for medical school or graduate school.

      Cons

      Difficult to justify if you don’t plan to have a research career, graduate or professional school because the pay is lower than other positions available in Blacksburg.
