Pros
1. CGG often hire electrical engineer for seismic signal processing. HR put a good show about company at University career fair at Saskatchwan. As fresh out of school with Master degree pay is decent. 2.Free breakfast, good benefit, fridays specials for breakfast. 3.Big name in seismic imaging. 4.High attrition rate which gives other ample opportunity to grow. 5.If you worked in Apple store say it in your interview. Asian head boss is apple ardent fan. 6. Good place if you can work at Houston office.
Cons
1.Chinese boss wont give good treatment to others. 2.Not a Multicultural place, work place is dominated by Asians (75%). They even take questions in Mandarin in meetings which is not very professional. 3.Longer you stay after your work hour more bonus you can get. 4.HR is not honest and straight with employees. They laid me off in 13 month saying its a business related decision to cut down cost and start hiring new people next day.I consider myself smart guy looking at my engineering degree, so its hard for me to understand reason for laying me off. So dont get in shock if the call you in their office and fire you without any warning. They did this many times before too. In 2008 they let go whole HR department, CGG is famous for hire and fire. 5.Lot of Favouritism. 6. My review is based on my experience at calgary office. I heard houston office doesnot get involve in calgary office day to day work. so I cant really talk about other centers.
