Pros

Science-driven, bottom-up culture. Friendly, clever, hard-working and culturally diverse group of people. Lots of interesting projects. Effective strategy of technology and service differentiation in both the core business of seismic imaging & natural resources but also in the fast-growing energy transition and data science sectors. Graduates receive a lot of training and encouragement from their teams. Good benefits and good salary compared to most scientific roles in physics and geoscience. Excellent bonus scheme. Excellent IT & HPC. From a data science perspective, access to a unique and truly massive library of geophysical, geological, environmental and EO data.

Cons

Management can be a bit distant and a little ham-fisted with communication. Workload can be high at times. Natural resources which make up the bulk of work can be cyclical. The same bottom-up culture which is a real strength can also mean some roles are poorly defined and support functions esp. HR feel a little under-resourced.

Mostly caring people, free lunch, and good benefits.

Cons

The hierarchy and growth path are not that exciting for engineers.

Pros

Viridien is a great company to work for, with a positive and professional working environment. The company has a strong international footprint, a diverse mix of nationalities and backgrounds, and a good balance of technical depth and business ambition. Colleagues are friendly, collaborative, and highly capable, and the leadership team is generally accessible and open to discussion. The work can be challenging and intellectually interesting, especially for people who enjoy technical, global, and client-facing environments.

Cons

Career progression could be much clearer and more structured. Promotion paths, development plans, and expectations for advancement are not always easy to understand, which creates uncertainty for employees who want to grow within the company. Salaries are also slightly below market average in some areas, and compensation should remain competitive to retain strong talent. Like many global technical companies, priorities can also shift quickly, so clearer communication and consistency would help.
