Pros

1) The best thing about Viridien (formerly CGG) is undoubtedly the people who work here. Particularly for new starters, there is a great opportunity to join a company with graduates from all over the world. You also have the opportunity to learn from highly skilled people who are experts in the industry. 2) The recruitment process. From interviewing at various competitors, Viridien by far has the best recruitment process. This is almost entirely thanks to Owen Pape, who is very committed to getting to know each individual throughout the process, but also continues to help with their development once they have joined the company. 3) Work-life balance. There is a pretty decent work-life balance, especially relative to some other competitors in the industry.

Cons

1) The location. The location is a major downside, particularly for graduates who wish to socialise and do things in the area. 2) Pay. For a company that position themselves in the high-end of the market, this is not reflected in the salary relative to competitors.

Pros

Viridien is a great company to work for, with a positive and professional working environment. The company has a strong international footprint, a diverse mix of nationalities and backgrounds, and a good balance of technical depth and business ambition. Colleagues are friendly, collaborative, and highly capable, and the leadership team is generally accessible and open to discussion. The work can be challenging and intellectually interesting, especially for people who enjoy technical, global, and client-facing environments.

Cons

Career progression could be much clearer and more structured. Promotion paths, development plans, and expectations for advancement are not always easy to understand, which creates uncertainty for employees who want to grow within the company. Salaries are also slightly below market average in some areas, and compensation should remain competitive to retain strong talent. Like many global technical companies, priorities can also shift quickly, so clearer communication and consistency would help.
