Pros
- The mission of Virta is to reverse Type 2 Diabetes in millions of people. T2D affects ~30 million in the US alone. Right now, there is no treatment for diabetes other than constant (and increasing) medication and bariatric surgery. At Virta, we're actually treating diabetes AND reducing or removing medication - Our senior leadership is incredibly experienced and (over)qualified for a startup of our size. They're also really good about delegating responsibility and empowering employees with the ability to make decisions - Everyone at the company is extremely mission-driven and they believe in the cause. This drive has really trickled down to every aspect of our culture. It's a very collaborative and transparent environment. - Great work/life balance - Well-funded. We keep track of our spending and our hiring, but don't have to worry too much about who will pay to keep the lights on - Last but not least, our work is literally saving people's lives. How many startups can say that?
Cons
- I wish we could be helping even more people, faster - There's really not much else to say, this has been the most fulfilling job I've ever had
