Pros

Will hire you even without a degree if your experience is relevant

Cons

Abusive culture with low pay, almost non-existent benefits and zero appreciation for the people that work on the "front lines", i.e. in the hotels vs. in the corporate offices. The other negative reviews are spot-on - there is absolutely no respect shown for people outside of the corp. office. They will work you as many hours as they can squeeze out of you for as little pay as is legal. No sick days are offered, and they will dock the pay of salaried employees who are out sick, even if they work additional hours that week to make up the time. I can't imagine this company will EVER hire any new employees if they don't get with the times. I would strongly encourage anyone considering working at a Vista Host hotel to run the other way, quickly!

Pros

Hands-on ownership and executive team: Upper management is very engaged and visible, which makes it easy to feel connected to the company’s direction and values. Strong community involvement: There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and participate in community-focused initiatives, which adds a meaningful dimension to the workplace experience. Supportive sales team: The sales team is truly wonderful, collaborative, upbeat, and always willing to help. Working alongside them is one of the highlights.

Cons

No 401(k) contribution: While a plan is offered, the lack of employer contribution is a significant downside compared to industry standards. Minimal annual raises: Yearly increases are typically just a little over 2%, which doesn’t reflect performance or growing responsibilities. Meeting overload: There are too many meetings and reports, which often feel repetitive and take time away from core responsibilities. Sales vs. Operations divide: The experience differs dramatically depending on the department. Sales and Operations function almost like separate companies, with noticeable differences in support, communication, and treatment. Low pay for the workload: Compensation does not match the level of responsibility or expectations placed on employees, especially in operations.
