Pros
In the interest of fairness, I will offer something positive. If you have never been a DOS, this is a way to achieve the title, learn what you can, and then move on. I cannot see another reason to join this firm as a DOS.
Cons
Above all, poor base salary. Regarding 40%+ bonus opportunity... Rolling budget ensures bonus targets move so that bonuses are not fully paid out. RevPar Index targets also change quarterly so that bonuses are not fully paid out. Expensive health insurance for a family. No 401k match. Small budget for entertaining clients and holiday gifts compared to your competitors. Minuscule marketing budget. Long and tedious weekly reports. Large monthly reports. Weekly calls with Regional Sales. Micro-management that leaves DOS with no autonomy and very little time left after servicing accounts. Cannot staff or hire for own department. Expectation that sales team needs to assist with complimentary breakfast weekdays and weekend in the name of "sales". In reality, sales team are utilized as bussers because comp breakfast is never staffed accordingly. Leanest budget (share hotelligence with other hotels, cheapest STAR, no travel budget for DOS). If you are an experienced DOS, the company is unattractive. If you have a full-service background and/or have worked for brand managed, the company is absurd.
