Pros

I started over the spring with Vitera and at the time found the job to be ok. I was looking for a step up from my previous job in terms of salary and benefits as my wife and I want to start a family. The salary and health benefits were a little better than what I had before. The location is convenient for me and for the most part, my coworkers are reasonably nice.

Cons

This is most definitely a dead-end job. There are no advancement opportunities even if you work really hard and do a good job. Management positions or team leader positions seem to be filled based on who sucks up to management the most which isn't my style. No one has gotten a review or raise. The company just put out the new benefits package for 2013 and it's a MAJOR step down from where I just came from. It's some new high deductible insurance plan with an out-of-pocket of $9,000 PER YEAR for a family. No that isn't a typo. The deductible alone is $3,000 before anything is covered. So, if we have a baby sometime this next year, the first $3,000 won't be covered AT ALL and then the insurance plan only pays out 80%. I also didn't notice during orientation that the 401K program is really weird. For example, they don't provide ANY employer match except ONCE PER YEAR and ONLY if you are working for the company on the 31st of December. So, if you work the whole year and get laid off or quit before December 31st, you get NOTHING from the employer. Also, by only paying out the employer match one a year, you get NO BENEFIT from having those funds invested for a whole year. Like I said, this is a dead end job. As soon as the Christmas holiday is over, I'm going to be looking for other work with a company that actually cares for its employees.

Pros

As I mentioned in the title I am a long time Healthcare IT Professional and this is my first job on this side of the fence. I love this company, it didn't take long for me to drink the Kool-Aid and I am thankful to have the same excitement inside to come to work now as I did the first week when I bought in to the Vitera values and message. As another review stated there is some carry over of frustrations and that is the exception, not the norm. So very true. I also see a lot of negative reviews on here from individuals who no longer work for the company that were employed since the last change and left a short time later. I see a few that were asked to go outside their comfort zone to accommodate change and their negative reaction to this. Personally, and this is my opinion, suck it up. This company has been amazing to work for in the short time I have been here. I see so many people from all departments busting their butts every day, long days, long weeks and it shows. I had done this for 12 plus years on the Hospital side and let me tell you, Vitera has treated its employees like gold compared to the Hospital side and more importantly, since late last year. After the dust settled from the last change the hiring process began to rebuild and the criteria for the rebuild is bringing in talent. I see the folks in HR busting their butts daily, not sitting in their offices all day but out engaging us all trying to make our work environment even greater than it is today and that is refreshing. It irritates me to think that people get on here and bash Vitera, we (current employees) were not the ones who made any of the changes to spawn a lot of the negative comments. The decisions that affected you came from a Board of an investment firm, not us who remain. So please keep the negativity to yourself unless you have something tangible to complain about because quite frankly I think the negativity is a disgrace to those of us putting 60, 70, 80 hour weeks in for a salaried position trying to make the experience for our customers better. To see how much or Managers, Directors, Executives and most importantly our HR Representatives do to make our lives, careers and futures bright is flattering and I hope people get the opportunity to join us and share in this.

Cons

I am still trying to find some CONS, really all I have his the deductible on the insurance...

Pros

Reasonable pay and (at one time) good benefits, Many good people to work with and a steady pay check in the bank

Cons

Mr. Hawkins made reference to his 'research' of past successes showing how 'The Medical Manager became so successful by being a Software Company'. Well, Mr. MBA, that's because they had a vast number of very good VARs out in the world selling the software and selling and supporting the hardware it was installed on. That is past history and you can not put Humpty back together again. You apparently think you can by 'Partnering' with a 3rd party hardware group like DecisionOne. Well guess what, DecisionOne has no real vested interest in making sure your few (and getting fewer by the day) remaining FORMER MEDICAL MANAGER Customers feel good about the service they receive as they once did from the local VAR of days gone by... They will be a number on the days list of calls to run, nothing more...
