Pros

The mission is impossible not to get behind, this is 100% meaningful work! During my time at Vivent I had the opportunity to work with and truly get to know many amazing clients. Vivent operates through a harm-reduction lense, which I wish other medical facilities would be more open to, its evidence based, and it works. I worked with incredible and knowledgeable coworkers, who really moved mountains through sheer grit and refusing to give up. There have been some more recent well deserved promotions of individuals who have done the actual work and service delivery, who "know their stuff", and who lead by example.

Cons

The organization has many locations, I can only fairly speak on Green Bay as far as "cons". The staff turnover was non-stop, without exaggeration there are 2 workers left that were there when I started, of 17. Again and again great workers left due to the lack of support from management. Staff with long tenure, even 25+ years left from burnout. The staffing levels became so low that it was impossible to serve clients well no matter how hard you worked and tried. Clients of course were alarmed by both turnover and abrupt program changes, which puts forward serving staff in a uncomfortable position where they are trying to save face for the company but not wanting to lie or say too much. The organization is ridiculously top heavy, at the time I left there were more managers overseeing Green Bay than actual employees left, but they manage from across the state and rarely visit the location they are responsible for. I understand that fundraising and photo ops are important, but so is ensuring that the clinics are actually operating and clients needs are being met.

Pros

Good pay, generous paid time off. mental health days, personal days. birthday holiday.

Cons

top heavy - CEO is wonderful and hard working, but takes in a HUGE salary for the non profit world. fine but the pay disparity is questionable. Could use more options for remote work or flexible schedule.

Pros

Meaningful mission and opportunity to serve vulnerable populations. Some staff members are dedicated and genuinely care about clients. Valuable experience gained in community-based prevention work.

Cons

Significant issues with team dynamics and lack of professional boundaries across roles. Nursing staff in particular demonstrated inconsistent professionalism, including poor communication, lack of accountability, and behavior that contributed to a stressful work environment. There appeared to be limited support for staff experiencing burnout or mental health challenges, despite the nature of the work. Case management dynamics at times felt more adversarial than collaborative, and boundaries for roles such as Prevention Specialists were not consistently respected. Overall, internal culture often detracted from the ability to effectively serve clients.
