Pros

Vizient is a company led by intelligent, highly competent people who are focused on ethical growth and exceptional service to members. Vizient actually shows evidence of belief in their core values and mission. Company gives back to the community at every opportunity and also incentivizes employee volunteer hours with paid time off as well as matching voluntary charitable donations. Vizient conducts an annual employee engagement survey, and then rapidly TAKES ACTION on the feedback. Of course, they can't please everyone, but they make a sincere effort. The interpersonal culture at Vizient is very warm and friendly, and the facility is beautiful. Base salary and PTO is above average within the healthcare industry and benefits are ok. Except for executive leadership, the workforce at Vizient is diverse and inclusive. CEO is freaking awesome.

Cons

Hard to criticize a company I like so much, but here goes. I would love to retire from here, but it is very difficult to get promoted, and my career has stalled here, so I can't linger. Not much transparency in the career development/promotion process right now, however that is changing (as a response to employee feedback), so it may get better soon. Culture is so "nicey-nice" that people avoid having necessary difficult conversations, resulting in people not being held accountable for results and being able to "glide by". Your experience with Vizient is HIGHLY dependent on what department you work in. The culture is not consistent across the Enterprise of companies, nor from department to department. I happen to work in a department where the leadership team is more in line with the corporate culture, so my experience has been positive. HR department is a bit stodgy and inflexible. If you have an issue and contact an HR representative, they sound as if they are reading to you from the employee handbook instead of trying to understand, make a connection and genuinely help you. Try to steer clear of HR as much as possible; they're not bad people, they just seem to lack empathy sometimes by being so "by the book". IMPORTANT: Negotiate your base salary carefully, as merit increases and bonuses are tiny, and Vizient strictly enforces salary caps.

Pros

Good company culture from c-suite down. Genuine care for employees as people with families. We work hard and the vast majority of coworkers and leaders are fantastic.

Cons

In 2025 Vizient fully restricted virtual employees from being promoted and from making any lateral moves. All impacted employees were hired BEFORE this policy was enacted. I was hired at the beginning of 2021 as a virtual employee with the expectation of occasional travel for on-site team and project/client meetings. Now, with the forcing of all employees back to the office, they’ve also restricted virtual roles. Prior to this policy enactment, we were NEVER told our roles could be restricted one day. Now, if we want to apply for lateral or promotional roles we have to move to a city of Vizient’s requirement (Dallas/Chicago primarily). This is extremely unfair. Families can start and roots put down in 4 years. Now, if I want or am recommended for a promotion I have to unexpectedly and without any prior expectation set, uproot my family and our lives to a congested city so I can commute 2-hours roundtrip to be in the office THREE (3) days a week as required by the in-office requirement and take VIRTUAL CALLS from a cubicle. Nothing about this is fair or makes sense. Even with employees being required to be in-office, they just stay half a day or less. Why do this to everyone? Are you planning to lay off all virtual employees?
