Pros

Great vacation policies, benefits, super smart people

Cons

The company has become all about the almighty dollar and the data and lost focus on the fact that the property owners are people and deserve to be treated with respect. The culture they claim to have is not the culture you actively live. Plan to work 50-60 hours a week with little/no appreciation or acknowledgement that you're busting your butt.

Thank you for the many years you've dedicated to HomeAway. We appreciate our employees and recognize the part they have played in our growth and success over the years. You bring up good points about work-life balance and recognition. If you haven't already, consider talking to your manager about the projects you’re working on and where time off fits in to the planning cycle so you get the time you need to recharge. If you have, reach out to your HR Business Partner or ping Kayla Chance to learn more about your options.

Pros

HomeAway technology stack has come a long way. One of the most appealing things about working here is the fact that you get to work with cutting edge technology. In addition, the engineering team are super smart, so working here is a great networking opportunity too.

Cons

Company is getting pretty big, and if you end up on the wrong team, you may find it that it is difficult for you to be impactful.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a thoughtful review. We love a good tech stack as much as the next tech company and it’s great to hear you enjoy working on ours. Our Data Science and Engineering teams are so important to the success of HomeAway. You’re right though, we are growing rapidly. If someone finds themselves on a team that doesn’t quite feel right, we highly encourage internal movement and having a conversation with your manager.
