Pros
Great learning experience, good people to work with. Some promotion opportunities if you're the right person with the right attitude and willing to work 50+ hours each week to get there.
Cons
Accountability depends on department. Some departments are not given a strong direction, and hence not held accountable for their responsibilities. Subsidiaries are not brought into line with the rest of the business units, meaning multiple processes for the same thing and many misunderstandings. This also creates an atmosphere of infighting between the operating units. IT is run as shoestring as possible to survive, not enough manpower or money is regularly invested in new technology. Many projects get started, implemented, then abandoned. For many positions, there is little to no formal training. This leads to many mistakes, confused staff, and rework.
