Pros

- The stated mission and the rank and file employees are fantastic. Several of the nicest human beings I've ever known worked at WEconnect. - For a small company, the salaries and perks are very fair. - There are lots of opportunities in the space and with the product itself to potentially deliver a big impact.

Cons

Unfortunately, it seems like there's a rot at the leadership level - a handful of folks appear more interested in moving vanity metrics around, as opposed to making the product do what it claims to. At a company of this small size, all it takes is one or two bad eggs to make the whole situation sour - and that's what seems to be happening at WEconnect. The company founders know the landscape, and practice what they preach, but beyond them, some of the leadership organization appears infected with people that don't know the healthcare industry or even the software industry more generally. Large projects that any experienced software professional could tell you were multi-month efforts were frequently expected to take weeks or even days - and calling attention to this sort of misalignment was typically very poorly received. It appears that bad news is ignored, questioned, or ridiculed, whereas good news is accepted and parroted without question. Two representative examples of the sort of culture issues we're talking about here: - At one point there was a company-wide initiative to get "ruthlessly honest" feedback on how things were going and where improvements were needed. When the meeting to discuss the feedback was held, leadership brought in an adviser to tell everyone that actually, we were just complainers, and that the solution to the problems was to stop complaining. One extremely brave employee brought up the fact that all the feedback was being ignored, and she unceremoniously "decided to part ways with the company" a few days later. - Not long after this initiative, there was a deeply bizarre "if you're not with us, get up and leave right now" meeting at which severance was offered to anyone that wanted to leave the company in the next 48 hours. When several understandably unhappy employees took leadership up on the offer, that fact was weaponized against them as "proof" that they were complainers and people "we didn't want anyhow".
