Pros
- benefits. One of the few part time jobs wherer you can qualify for benefits - easy work - if you can scan a barcode and count, its not so bad - flexible: If you can't make a job, tell your manager in penty of time. No big deal - it pays. Yes, minimum wage. But if you need pocket money you can make some I saw a lot of complaints, so I felt compelled to post. I work WIS as well as 2 other jobs. In our economy, and jobs being scarce, you do what you have to. Its not corporate suit-and-tie work. You are on your knees, on ladders and walking a lot to do an inventory. Yes, you are rated on CPH (count per hour) and you are encouraged to count quickly. What else would you expect an inventory company to look for? Unlike others, I think the CPH goals are attainable. Not on the first day, mind you. I have been with it for about 5 weeks, and I am hitting my goals. The hours are odd. Since stores want inventories done when they are closed, you will either work very early, or very late hours. Its a good thing if you have a 'regular' job and this is supplemental. Would be good for anyone who needs to work non-traditional hours. You won't get rich. You won't go from this to the cushy corner office. You do have some lower-educated people, and some that can't get other jobs. But really, who cares? Do your job, get your money, go on home. ITs a job. Its not glamorous. Its not easy at times. Its not cushy. but if you just need to make some cash while you are job hunting, or to supplement your household, its not bad.
Cons
- unpredictable hours - some weeks you have 20 hrs, some you have 5. Its up to the stores when you do inventories - odd hours. I have done jobs at 2am, and at 11pm. - low pay rate. It starts at minimum, maybe a hair higher. If you do well, they do give raises - slim chance for advancement. For every inventory manager, there are dozens of counters. There isnt a whol lot of upward trajectory
