Pros

WPS handled the pandemic situation with minimal disruption in business. Sending 95% of employees to work from home has actually increased how close I feel with my coworkers. Aside from the pandemic response, my leadership is committed to giving everyone in the PMO an opportunity to grow their skills and really listens to what your goals are. Over the past few years I have been working for WPS, I have learned so much. This company really has given me the chance to see what I am capable of and that is the reason I plan to work here long term. The standard things people are interested in: great benefits (this is an insurance company after all), competitive pay, PTO and holidays, some areas offer remote work part time or full time depending on department WPS also values veterans and active military members and is engaged in showing it. There is a veterans group that is very active, WPS sponsors events like Stand Down Madison, and will spotlight other events for veterans. The values are Mutual Respect, Individual Responsibility, Customer Focused, and Driven and Passionate. These values are not just a pretty picture on a wall, but continually talked about and demonstrated by everyone in the company. There is an internal platform to recognize people who live up to those values I could go on and on about why I love it here, but I am running out of characters.

Cons

With every company there are some cons. Not all cons are necessarily cons for everybody though. This is a pretty big company, with big companies there is confusion about who owns which applications or lots of overhead to get things done (like access). When the pandemic is not happening, we still have a pretty large remote worker population and there are also many offices all over the country. This can make communication difficult and possibly inconsistent (i.e. a room full of people for a meeting and a few people on the phone, when the meeting is over the phone hangs up but someone in the room asks a question. the person on the phone would miss it). The cafeteria on the Madison campus is okay, but not very healthy. The salad bar is an option, but sometimes we want something healthy that isn't salad! Oh and it is so hard to resist the vending machines when Jalapeno Cheetos are available. Lots of restructures have been happening since I have started working here, not necessarily a con but can cause confusion about who to reach out to and what groups are called what now.
